Education & Schools  |  The Black Boy School

The school focused primarily on the three R's with abundant Scripture lessons. But not all children attended diligently:

Punished a girl with two strokes for purposely inking one of the new readers..

Some did not even attend physically:

September 7th 1868. The fever is very bad in Stroud, several children are away ill, and some are kept at home..for fear of infection.

February 8th 1895. Sarah Angel is ill and Harry Parker has the smallpox. Several of the children are away with bad colds and others are kept at home until the weather is warmer.
